Sailing the Yucatán: My Carnival Cruise to Cozumel & Progreso

There’s nothing quite like waking up to the sight of endless blue water, knowing adventure is just around the corner. My recent Carnival cruise to Cozumel and Progreso, Mexico was the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and unforgettable moments with amazing people. From lounging on the beach in a cabana to exploring ancient Mayan ruins, every day was a new experience.

Day 1: Embarking on the Adventure

The moment I stepped onto the ship, I felt the excitement in the air—music playing, drinks flowing, and people ready to have a great time. After a smooth check-in, I grabbed a frozen cocktail and explored the ship. The sail-away party set the tone for the trip, with people dancing on deck as we watched the coastline disappear into the horizon.

Day 2: A Day at Sea

Sea days are made for indulging, and I made sure to take full advantage. I started my morning with breakfast on the deck, soaking in the ocean views. The day was spent lounging by the pool, enjoying live entertainment, and even treating myself to a relaxing spa session.

Of course, no cruise is complete without great food and a little fun at the casino. By the evening, I was dressed up and ready for an elegant dinner, live music, and laughter with my group. It was the perfect way to enjoy the ship before our first port stop.

Day 3: Paradise at Mr. Sancho’s in Cozumel

Cozumel is a tropical dream, and my visit to Mr. Sancho’s Beach Club was pure paradise. From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in for a perfect day. I had a private cabana, unlimited drinks, and crystal-clear water just steps away.

One of my favorite moments? Taking pictures with the vibrant, playful parrots! It was such a fun experience, and they definitely knew how to pose for the camera. The rest of the day was filled with lounging in the sun, sipping tropical cocktails, and taking refreshing dips in the ocean. Mr. Sancho’s was the ultimate relaxation spot, and I could’ve stayed there forever.

Day 4: Exploring the Mayan Ruins & A Private Pink Valentine’s Party

Progreso is known for its proximity to some of Mexico’s most incredible Mayan ruins, and I wasn’t going to miss the chance to explore history up close. I joined a guided tour, walking through centuries-old temples and structures while learning about the rich history of the Mayan civilization. It was surreal to stand among ruins that had stood the test of time.

After working up an appetite, we headed straight to a buffet-style restaurant to enjoy some authentic Mexican cuisine. The flavors were incredible, and it was the perfect way to refuel before heading back to the ship.

A Night to Remember: The Private Pink Valentine’s Party

Once we were back onboard, it was time for one last unforgettable moment—our private Pink Valentine’s Party! I had planned a special event just for my group, complete with a DJ, great music, and the perfect space to celebrate together.

Dressed in pink, we danced, laughed, and toasted to an incredible trip. It was more than just a party—it was a bonding moment, a time to reflect on the experiences we shared, and a way to celebrate friendship and love before heading back to reality. It was the perfect way to close out the cruise.

Day 5: Heading Home

As we cruised back, I took a final walk around the deck, reflecting on all the unforgettable moments. From the sandy beaches of Cozumel to the ancient ruins of Progreso, every experience was special. The last night onboard was filled with laughter, heartfelt goodbyes, and of course, one last delicious meal.

Final Thoughts

This cruise was everything I needed and more—relaxation, adventure, and memories that will last a lifetime. Whether it was lounging on the beach, exploring Mayan history, or celebrating with my group, every moment was a reminder of why I love to travel.
